This NOAA-14 image taken on January 14, 1996 is a 1-kilometer High Resolution Picture Transmission (HRPT) image which clearly shows the extent of the snowfall that occurred during the previous week. One interesting aspect of this image is the temperature difference in the water off Cape Hatteras, North Carolina. Warmer waters show up darker than cooler waters.
