Lake Effect Snow (During) - HRPT

On November 12, 1996, cold air swept over the relatively warm waters of Great Lakes Erie and Ontario, producing more than 40 inches of snow on the southern shores of these lakes. Lakes Michigan, Huron, Erie and Ontario are visible through the clouds in this 1-kilometer NOAA-14 High Resolution Picture Transmission (HRPT) scene before the lake effect snow event.
